How Invoice Generator works
An invoice is a legal document, and the parts that matter are the ones that make it enforceable and payable: who is billing, who is being billed, a unique invoice number, the date it was issued, what was supplied, the amounts, and how to pay. This generator lays those out in a standard A4 format that any client, accountant or tax authority will recognise.
The number sequence matters more than people expect. Invoice numbers should be unique and sequential, without gaps — in most tax jurisdictions, including under Indian GST rules, a gap in the sequence invites questions during an audit. A simple prefixed counter like INV-001, INV-002 works fine; adding a year (2026-001) makes annual reconciliation easier.
Tax is applied after any discount, which is the standard order and the one your accountant will expect: subtotal, minus discount, then tax on the discounted amount. All arithmetic is rounded to two decimal places at each step, so the classic floating-point drift where three lines of ₹33.33 fail to add up to ₹100 does not reach your total.
One deliberate limitation is worth explaining. The PDF uses the fonts built into the PDF standard, which keeps the file small and means it renders identically everywhere without embedding anything. Those fonts cover Latin characters only, so currencies are shown as ISO codes — "INR 12,500.00" rather than "₹12,500.00" — and text in Devanagari, Chinese, Arabic or emoji cannot be drawn. If any characters have to be dropped, you are told exactly how many rather than finding gaps in the finished invoice.
Because everything runs locally, nothing about your clients or your revenue is transmitted or stored. There is no account, so there is also no invoice history — save each PDF as you create it.
