Remove Pages

Delete specific pages from your PDF document.

Remove unwanted pages from a PDF — blank pages, drafts, appendices, or anything else you do not want in the final document. The remaining pages keep their original order, formatting, and quality. Works in your browser, no app to install.

How Remove Pages works

Removing pages from a PDF is more nuanced than just deleting them — references between pages (internal links, table-of-contents entries, bookmark targets, named destinations) all assume the original page numbering. Naïve tools strip pages by index and leave behind broken links that point to nothing.

SwitchPDF rebuilds the page tree after the removal so the remaining pages renumber from 1 forward. We re-target internal hyperlinks where possible and drop bookmarks pointing to deleted pages, keeping the document navigable. Annotations, form fields, and embedded fonts on surviving pages are preserved.

The most common use cases: removing a blank first or last page that some scanners and exporters insert automatically; stripping draft watermarks or "DO NOT DISTRIBUTE" cover pages before sending a document externally; cutting an appendix off a long report; or deleting personal information from a page before sharing.

Because the rest of the document is left untouched, the operation is lossless. The file you download has identical quality to the original — only smaller, because the removed pages are gone. If you want a smaller file, you can pair Remove Pages with our Compress PDF tool.

How to use Remove Pages

1

Upload your PDF

Drag and drop the PDF or click to browse for the file containing the pages you want to remove.

2

Specify pages to remove

Enter the pages to delete using comma-separated ranges. For example "2, 5-7, 10" removes page 2, pages 5 through 7, and page 10.

3

Download the trimmed PDF

Click "Remove Pages" and download the new PDF with the unwanted pages gone. The remaining pages are renumbered automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I specify which pages to remove?
+
Use comma-separated ranges. For example "1, 3-5, 8" removes page 1, pages 3 to 5, and page 8. Page numbers are 1-based, like in your PDF viewer.
Does the remaining content get renumbered?
+
Yes. The output PDF has its pages numbered consecutively from 1, just like a freshly created PDF.
Will internal links and bookmarks still work?
+
Surviving internal links and bookmarks pointing to surviving pages are preserved and re-targeted. Links pointing to removed pages are dropped.
Can I remove every other page (odd or even)?
+
Yes — for example, enter "2, 4, 6, 8, 10" to remove the even pages. For longer ranges, our Organize PDF tool gives you a more visual interface.
Is the quality affected?
+
No. The remaining pages are byte-for-byte the same as in the original file.
Can I remove pages from a password-protected PDF?
+
Unlock it first using our Unlock PDF tool, then run Remove Pages on the unlocked copy.
How many pages can I remove at once?
+
No fixed limit. You can remove a single page or hundreds — whatever ranges you enter.
Are my files safe?
+
Yes. Processed over HTTPS, isolated on our server, deleted within 15 minutes automatically. We do not read, share, or store the contents of your files.
